The American Design Honors is presented to Egg Collective

WantedDesign is proud to announce the recipient of its first American Design Honors program—the Brooklyn-based company, Egg Collective. Established in 2012 by three female designers: Stephanie Beamer, Crystal Ellis, and Hillary Petrie, Egg Collective is a New York-based design company committed to building American-made furniture. Through their backgrounds in architecture, art, and woodworking, they have developed a unique style and a strong design language.
Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, WantedDesign is proud to partner with long time supporter of American design, Bernhardt Design, on this new initiative which aims to recognize talented young American designers that demonstrate outstanding creative and entrepreneurial skills, who already have a solid body of work, an original design language, and are pioneering a new design business model. As an ambassador of American design, this initiative will support and give International exposure to the honoree.
Selected by a committee of design professionals including Jerry Helling, President of Bernhardt Design, and WantedDesign Co-Founders, Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, the honoree designers of 2015, Egg Collective, will have a dedicated space at the entrance of WantedDesign at the Terminal Stores building to present selected pieces of their collection. NYCXDESIGN opening party was a success!

For the first day of WantedDesign Brooklyn, a rich program of talks, tours, and workshops warmed up the atmosphere at Industry City for the opening night of NYCXDESIGN. Like the Brooklyn Open Studios and Factories which hosted theVitra Design Hunt; the presentations by ABC Home’s Senior Creative team, or the engaging activities on 3d printing by Shapeways, glass molding by Urban Glass, and on creating objects using mushrooms by Ecovative.

Thanks to the support of all the co-hosts the event was a great success! More than 4,000 people played with the colorful forms on the interactive wall by Dusen Dusen custom made by Visual Magnetics, the Tangible Tweets by Formnation and commissioned by Dutch Culture USA, a live performance by graffiti artists using NBQ pro spray paint, a projection installation by audio and visual designers Circus Family, all framed by the music of djs Rombo, Blasé and Richie Quake.

A big thanks to the NYCXDESIGN team, NYC & Company, the Collective Design Fair, Industry City, Design Within Reach, the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York, Dutch Culture USA, the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD), the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, BKLYN Designs, Metropolis Magazine, Circus Family, Core77, Metropolis magazine, Stella Artois, and all of you who came and shared these magical moments with us!
