Design Schools Workshop: Playtime presented with Core77

Read Core77 interview with Matt Sindall

A group of students coming from the US and foreign countries will participate to the WantedDesign Design Schools Workshop . More focused on collaboration than on competition, the Design Schools Workshop is deeply marked in the DNA of the show. This workshop has been very successful in promoting schools; fostering the international network between young designers as well as in initiating partnerships between schools and manufacturers. This year, the workshop will focus on material exploration within the theme of “Playfulness” – inspired by what it means in our society, the role it is playing and how it translates when conceiving or interacting with products. Students will be asked to combine thinking with making, explore materials and produce projects with their hands. Each team will be working with a different material: wood, glass and textile. The Workshop space will be set up again at WantedDesign Brooklyn, allowing the students to work in a creative environment and collaborate with various makers/studios based in Brooklyn, like Brooklyn Glass, and at Industry City.

The final public presentation with the Jury will take place at the Conversation Lounge at WantedDesign Manhattan May 16th.
