CENTRO is an institute of higher education that specializes in creative studies with leading professionals, study programs and striking a careful balance between theory and practice, talent and discipline, risk and certainty. We take an interdisciplinary and enterprising approach to education, and work to ensure congruence between our installations, our people and the content of our study programs, all in order to achieve our core aim: to redefine the reach of creativity.
Recognizing that creativity is a serious business, CENTRO raises the professional standards of discipline that prepare students to build the future of Mexico. CENTRO has already proven that a world-class education that emphasizes and empowers creativity gives young professionals the most effective tools for living and doing what they are most passionate about. Every student is encouraged to develop and apply their individual talents and skills in many areas within their respective disciplines. They grow by acquiring the skills and training necessary to deal with complex challenges and are constantly participating in workshops, festivals and competitions in order to communicate their vision and demonstrate their skills.
Today, as it enters its second decade, CENTRO has accomplished something specially exciting: a new, state-of-the-art campus for Mexico’s future designers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers and creative professionals. A campus that inspires and breathes creativity at every turn, where cutting-edge physical facilities unite technology with a human and personal vision, and where the spaces themselves foster new teaching methodologies and processes appropriate to a global education in the twenty-first century.
Art Center College for Design
Learn to create. Influence change. This is the mission of Art Center College of Design. For more than 80 years, we’ve achieved an international reputation for our rigorous, transdisciplinary curriculum, faculty of professionals, strong ties to industry and a commitment to socially responsible design. At Art Center, we prepare artists and designers to make a positive impact in their chosen fields—as well as the world at large.
Environmental design is a human-centered discipline that focuses on the total spatial experience—from the first moment of encounter to the last moment of interaction. Students look beyond the single object, moment or place to see how they collectively make an impact in projects ranging from branded retail, theme-driven dining, new hospitality, exhibition and residential design—delivering effective, inclusive environments using responsible material choices and manufacturing practices. Our emphasis on spatial experiences also makes our graduates leaders in the design of furniture, lighting and interior/exterior living components. Product design at Art Center is grounded in understanding people’s needs, identifying opportunities for innovation, visualizing ideas and realizing solutions. It’s imperative that we understand and embrace the limitless array of opportunities we have to shape our future.
As the role of design continues to expand and diversify, emerging technologies and platforms for innovation are enabling “design entrepreneurs” to take ideas from concept to marketplace. And design is increasingly recognized as crucial to achieving commercial and organizational success, and vital in improving lives.
