Nimble Scooters

Project
The product we are launching at WantedDesign is our Nimble Cargo Scooter. It’s a kick-style scooter with cargo space upfront, to carry belongings easily over a short distance in a fun, convenient and hassle-free way. It is lightweight, rides smoothly, has a very sturdy aluminum frame and recycled rotomolded cargo tub, and is affordable – fit for any type of use. We differentiate ourselves from the traditional folding scooters that are great for “speeding up” a walk, as well as the large cargo bicycles which we love, but they tend to be a lot more expensive, cumbersome – and you need a place to store it. You won’t be bringing that in the elevator… Our cargo scooter is made for all sorts of purposes but our main markets are consumer, industrial and commercial. For example, individuals can use Nimble for leisure or for neighborhood use, running small errands. Nimble also works great for warehouse operators for example, who need to bring tools, supplies or packages from one end of a warehouse to another. We have been approached by businesses who wanted to use Nimble for food vending purposes along a beach promenade, or as a fleet to deliver goods to local customers.

Studio
Our Nimble Scooters studio/workshop is based in Tustin, in Southern California. That is where we do all the prototyping, and thinking behind our start-up. Our team is comprised of John Kim, Alix Armour, Scott Rall and Aaron Wong – we are all industrial designers with specialization in strategy, business development, engineering model-making. Since Alix lives in Paris, we have weekly team meetings every Wednesday over Skype. It’s not that easy, especially with time difference, but we’ve managed to work efficiently and create opportunities for us on both sides of the world.
