Erickson Aesthetics
Erickson Aesthetics is a Brooklyn-based custom furniture design and prototype studio founded by Ben Erickson in 2004. In collaboration with fellow craftsmen and designers, the studio has developed an extensive body of work producing bespoke furniture pieces, lighting, and interiors for distinctly creative residences.
Ben studied fine arts at SVA in New York and Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. The soul of his work is a playful recognition of the line between art object and fine furniture. While modern in form and color, the richness of hand-selected hardwoods, raw metal finishes, and full grain leathers speak to the craftsmanship of previous centuries. The current collection distills elements of EÆ’s large custom works into an eclectic line of furniture that is both sculptural in form and challenging in its contrasts.
Erickson’s designs are influenced by conceptual sculpture, photography and the minimalism of mid-century modernism. Along with the occasional treasure hunt of a rare antique from someone’s basement, he is inspired by his three and a half year old son August, who is already a prolific inventor and comedian.
