Chicago Outside the Box
Recess
For the 2015 Outside The Box exhibition, the Chicago object collection explores the idea of play. Every year at about this time, Chicago begins to thaw. The first day that the temperature breaks 50 degrees, the entire city comes back to life as if they had been hibernating for the past 6 frigid winter months. Springtime in Chicago feels like recess in grade school: It’s time to play for a while before we have to go back inside. The colorful objects assembled here allow for a brief moment of careless playtime for children or adults.
