Calm, Cool, and Collected
Calm, Cool and Collected: New Designs from Norway is an exhibition exploring the work of seven up-and-coming and emerging Norwegian design studios. Selected by design curator and writer Paul Makovsky, the show surveys the imaginative ways these designers have engaged with sustainability, creating works with an emphasis on functionality and clean, simple lines. It features a fresh range of furnishings and products, from hand-blown glass vases to beautifully turned ash bowls, crafted with materials and ideas that reflect the vibrancy and ideas of the Norwegian design scene today. The designers are rising talents in Norwegian design world–some are recent graduates while others are starting to garner international attention. As the designers rise in stature, many have been collaborating with Norwegian manufacturers in addition to manufacturers in the rest of Scandinavia as well as abroad. The exhibition provides an excellent snapshot of contemporary Norwegian design today.
