ALCANTARA METAMORPHOSIS COLLECTION

metamorphosis [from Greek μεταμόρφωσις, “transformation, transforming”, from μετα- (meta-) “change” + μορφή (morphe) “form”]

A multifaceted material, capable of adapting each time to different forms and requisites. A unique, proprietary technology. A dedicated design team. This is the background to Alcantara’s new interior collection.

Inspired, on the one hand, by natural elements and, on the other, by the world of male tailoring –each with an original new look in decoration – Metamorphosis reveals a “handmade” soul, highlighting the absolute uniqueness of a material that is a perfect blend of style and technology. The collection’s fourteen articles showcase just some of the ways Alcantara may be treated: from printing to embossing, laminating and even electro-welding. The palette alternates cool shades of blue, grey and teal with warmer hints of orange, tree-bark, beige and pale yellow, plus surprising flashes of vibrant fuchsia and acid yellow.

Soft organic lines and marbling or camouflage effects give a three-dimensional feel to nature-inspired decoration, from Iguana’s exotic, irregular striped pattern to the bright colours (enhanced by embossing) of Papilo, and Magnolia’s elegant plissé. Classic, linear motifs are reinterpreted in an evocation of the finishing touches used in male tailoring.

For the first time ever, Alcantara presents a furnishings collection created by its own in-house design team. “From concept to collection”, states Andrea Boragno, President and CEO of Alcantara. “We’re very proud to have devised and made a line of products which spotlight Alcantara’s qualities”.

The collection illustrates not only the material’s boundless expressive potential, its powerfully innovative spirit and its inherent cross-genre quality, enabling its application in innumerable sectors, but also the effectiveness of an integrated corporate approach strongly focused on sustainability and total quality, as confirmed by the numerous certifications awarded to Alcantara.

“The company constantly invests from 3% to 5% of its turnover in R&D”, says Boragno. “The technology underpinning our sophisticated production process allows us continuously to improve the material’s performance so we can offer ever-new products to meet the various markets’ changing requirements”.

Metamorphosis gives prominence to Alcantara’s natural versatility and its ability to interpret different moods and styles, thereby “transforming” our interior settings with softly contemporary decors and colours.
