Hangman, Surya Graf design

Surya Graf Studio is an Australian based design practice with a basis in Architecture and Industrial Design. The design philosophy is materials led and process driven, with outcomes focused on functionality and a refined simplicity of form. The extensive portfolio of work spans across a diverse range of product, interior and urban design.

It is said that we wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time, with Hangman offering a spot for those 20%. It provides an immediately accessible place for your favorite jeans, jacket or neck tie and an opportunity to reclaim that chair from underneath your garments. The Hangman Clothing Rack was inspired by the materials and industrial finish of mass produced wire coat hangers, and like the coat hanger, Hangman is constructed as one continuous line which bends around itself to create a visually dynamic and practical form. Aimed primarily at the inner city apartment dwellers who often lack built in storage, the Hangman is a free-standing, adaptable, and space efficient solution. Manufactured from bent stainless steel tubing, the Hangman measures H1800mm x L1500mm x W600mm and can easily be disassembled into the four components for transportation.

Luxxbox Helm Pendant

Helm Pendants – Design Luxxbox

Luxxbox was founded in 2006 as a vehicle for Industrial Designer Jason Bird to design and manufacture his own collection of diverse commercial and domestic products. With a long and varied career already under his belt, with accolades and exhibitions reaching from New York to Tokyo and Australia, Jason’s savvy is channeled into Luxxbox’s unique aesthetic version of urban design. Luxxbox’s designs are a visual display of strength in form, with decorative illumination and lifestyle/furniture products that explore negative space, with industrial finishes his class of choice. The use of unconventional materials, colours and local production techniques pushes boundaries to make a statement in style. Whether from its Northern Californian or Australian studio, Luxxbox is committed to supporting local manufacturers and in doing so is continually evolving its design and production techniques. As a result, Luxxbox products embody a uniquely international influence which is being appreciated across the globe for its refreshing take on modern, cutting edge design.

Gobble 02 web

Gobble by Husque

The Macadamia tree is a true Australian, until 1857 it remained exclusive to the East Coast of Australia. In 2003, Husque is created from the process of milling waste Macadamia nut shell and re forming it with polymers. Not dissimilar to types of Bakelite woodflour and resin, Husque is the re-imagination of a natural waste material that has an intrinsic Australian connection.  Having become a signature development for designer Marc Harrison, on show is a retrospective of the journey starting in 2000, from the idea to use a unique native Australian resource differently, to a product that has captured international curiosity.
