Design Week Mexico – October 21-25

This October, WantedDesign will partner once again with Design Week Mexico to encourage design exchanges and strengthen ties between the U.S. and Mexico. WantedDesign will present a large-scale installation by Neal Feay, a Santa Barbara-based company and global leader in creative, anodized aluminum with cutting-edge manufacturing, technology and design. During the week, we will also present our first WantedDesign American Design Honors award to Egg Collective, a Brooklyn-based company started in 2012 by three female designers, Stephanie Beamer, Crystal Ellis and Hillary Petrie. Egg Collective is committed to building unique yet classic American-made furniture.

DWM provides a platform to exhibit and promote design that contributes to social, economic and cultural progress. Now in its 7th edition, there will be another rich program of exhibits, installations and talks taking place across Mexico City, such as installations at the Design House, conversations at the Tamayo Museum and the Museum of Modern Art and a container installation at Polanco Park. Visitors can also take advantage of various design routes that will walk them through the showings during the weekend of October 24-25. Visit WantedDesign at the Blend showroom, where we will have a collection of the best of U.S. design. www.designweekmexico.com

WestEdge Design Fair

WestEdge Design Fair

WestEdge Design Fair – October 22-25

WantedDesign presents its Launch Pad award for the second year running, thanks to a partnership with WestEdge Design Fair in Santa Monica. The “Best 2015 Launch Pad” award goes to Kjartan Oskarsson, an Icelandic designer that was chosen by the jury for the originality of his designs and concepts.
The third edition of the Launch Pad program returned last May and featured a group of select, market-ready prototypes from 24 international design studios and independent designers–all looking for manufacturers, retailers or distributors. Oskarsson’s lamp prototypes were truly innovative and met the high quality standards needed to go to market. As part of the Launch Pad prize, Oskarsson is invited to show his new Halo and Forester lighting at both WantedDesign 2016 and the WestEdge Design Fair. That is a great opportunity for WantedDesign to be at the fair and meet with the west coast design community. www.westedgedesignfair.com
