At WantedDesign Manhattan, May 19-22, Camille Walala and Visual Magnetics will debut a new collaboration called “Play More.” It’s an interactive mural using Visual Magnetics magnetic textiles which allows visitors to create endlessly configurable patterns, creating their own interpretation of her work. The mantra “Play More” embodies the vibrant, playful and creative energy of Camille’s Studio in East London.

NYCxDESIGN is a month away! Register now to attend WantedDesign in Manhattan (May 19-22, 2018) and at Industry City in Brooklyn (May 17-21, 2018).

WantedDesign Manhattan will showcase numerous international design pavilions (including Istanbul, Chile, El Salvador, Mexico and more); the Launch Pad with 32 emerging designers from around the world; Look Book featuring the work of 12 designers and makers from across North America; Oliver Haslegrave, the recipient of 2018 American Design Honors; DMxM Talks, a series of engaging conversations curated by Design Milk and Modenus and more.

WantedDesign Brooklyn joins the IC Design Festival in Sunset Park, which celebrates Industry City as a bonafide design destination. Launched in 2015, American Design Honors was created by WantedDesign co-founders Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, and Jerry Helling, President of Bernhardt Design, to recognize up-and-coming American designers who embody excellence in creative design and superior entrepreneurial ability. For consideration, candidates must possess a solid body of work, express a unique design language and offer a pioneering new design business model. Through the American Design Honors program, Bernhardt Design and WantedDesign aim to promote exceptional American Design in the broader international arena while providing a means of support for young designers seeking to amplify their impact and reach.

Oui Design 2018

Launched in 2016, OUI Design aims to foster creative exchange in design between France and the U.S. It is the first program initiated by the French Embassy to support fruitful and durable partnerships between design professionals on both sides of the Atlantic. WantedDesign will be again a main partner for the third edition of Oui Design. Through a diverse program comprised of workshops, exhibitions, and talks, Oui Design will feature collaborative projects exploring new modes of production, at the intersection of design, art, and crafts.

Camille Walala is a purveyor of positivity, expressed through vibrant color and bold pattern. Commissioned by WantedDesign and sponsored by Industry City, Walala will create a permanent monolithic mural wrapping the facade of a prominent building at Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

Introducing the 2018 Launch Pad

This year, we celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Launch Pad, WantedDesign’s innovative platform for connecting emerging designers with manufacturers, retailers and collaborators. Since 2014, nearly 200 designers have been featured from dozens of countries around the globe. In 2018, 33 designers from 11 countries will showcase their work in lighting and furniture design at WantedDesign Manhattan (May 19-22) during NYCxDESIGN, New York’s celebration of global design. Online voting is open through May 22 – get to know the 2018 Launch Pad designers and vote here.
